Hi! I’m Miki, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist who loves to help people dealing with eczema find relief through healthy eating. I was born and raised in beautiful North Vancouver, where my family was all about healthy living and eating organic, locally sourced foods.
Growing up, junk food was a big no-no, and eating out was a rare occasion. Despite this health-conscious upbringing, I struggled with severe eczema since I was a kid. It was like my body had its own plan that didn’t align with the healthy vibes at home.
Let’s just say my eczema was not the kind you could easily ignore. I spent years trying to hide it—band-aids, long sleeves, and tons of lotion. I even snuck in some corticosteroids, hoping my mom wouldn’t notice. The alternative medicine route? I tried it all: homeopaths, naturopaths, acupuncturists, you name it. Sure, some of it worked for a while, but my eczema would always come back, angrier than before.
Then came my mid-20s, when my skin decided to go on strike. I woke up one morning with my face and body covered in red, inflamed rashes. It was so bad that I had to duct-tape oven mitts to my hands at night just to stop myself from scratching. My social life? Non-existent. I wore long sleeves in the middle of summer and skipped out on anything that could make me sweat. I was miserable, exhausted, and just done with it all.
I knew I needed a change, and I found it in food. Clean, whole, organic food became my medicine, and it made a huge difference. I started feeling better, my skin improved, and I realized I could take control of my eczema. This journey into food-based healing led me to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, so I could share what I learned with others who were going through the same struggles.
